Award Competitions

As an IADR member, you have the privilege to participate in prestigious Award Competitions. In order to compete, you must submit an abstract via the abstract submission website. During submission, you will be asked if you wish to participate in a competition organized by your Division. Find below all the competitions held by the PER-IADR Oral Health Research Congress Divisions during the PER-IADR Oral Health Research Congress in Marseille, France.

CED-IADR AWARDS/COMPETITIONS

CED-IADR Travel Award

The 2022 CED-IADR Travel Award is financial support for young researchers to attend the ‘2022 PER-IADR Oral Health Research Congress’ in Marseille, France. In order to apply for a CED-IADR Travel Award, you have to meet the conditions found at www.ced-iadr.eu/travel-award.

CED-IADR Robert Frank Award

This is the most prestigious scientific award provided by CED-IADR. From the CED-IADR 'Robert Frank Award Winners', up to three winners will be selected by the jury to represent CED-IADR at the IADR Unilever Hatton Award Competition during the next year General Session & Exhibition of IADR. The CED-IADR Robert Frank Award competition has 3 categories:

  • CED-IADR Robert Frank Award Competition - JUNIOR is reserved for undergraduate students/studying for their first university degree.
  • CED-IADR Robert Frank Award Competition – SENIOR/Basic Science Research for post-dental/medical, post-graduate and Ph.D. students or up to 3-year Postdoc’s (maximum 3 years after Ph.D. defence at the time of application). Laboratory or animal research
  • CED-IADR Robert Frank Award Competition – SENIOR/Clinical Research is for post-dental/medical, post-graduate and Ph.D. students or up to 3-year Postdoc’s (maximum 3 years after Ph.D. defence at the time of application). Research on human subjects or involving epidemiology.

BSODR AWARDS/COMPETITIONS

The BSODR administers and awards a number of research prizes to qualifying BSODR members. Candidates are only eligible to enter for ONE of the BSODR prizes. Candidates applying for more than one prize will be automatically disqualified from all entries. Remaining conditions for each award can be found at https://bsodr.org.uk/awards-and-prizes/

Senior Colgate Prize - Oral presentation

In order to apply for this prize, you must be an early career researcher (within 5 years of receiving your PhD) or postgraduate student at the time of performing the research.

Junior Colgate Prize - Oral presentation

In order to apply for this prize, you must be/have been an undergraduate student at the time of performing the research.

BSODR (Septodont) Poster prize

In order to apply for this prize, you must be an early career researcher (within 5 years of receiving your PhD) or postgraduate student at the time of performing the research. 

GSK-BSODR MINTIG Prize - Oral presentation

In order to apply for this prize, you must be an early career researcher (within 5 years of receiving your PhD) or postgraduate student at the time of performing the research. 

Voco Dental Materials Prize - Oral presentation

In order to apply for this prize, you must be an early career researcher (within 5 years of receiving your PhD) or postgraduate student at the time of performing the research. 

Oral Medicine and Pathology – Oral presentation/Poster Prize

In order to apply for this prize, you must be an early career researcher (within 5 years of receiving your PhD) or postgraduate student at the time of performing the research. 

NOTE: Candidates are only eligible to enter for ONE of the BSODR prizes in any given calendar year. Candidates applying for more than one prize will automatically be disqualified from all entries.

NOF Division AWARDS/COMPETITIONS

NOF Travel grant

Each year, NOF offers travel grants to young researchers attending the regional (NOF, CED, PER) IADR congress.
Usually two stipends per NOF country (Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden and Norway) are awarded. A scientific committee will be responsible for the selection.
NOF sends the announcement of travel grants to its members and Nordic universities by email. Applicants for the NOF travel grant must submit an abstract for presentation at the congress.
Only members of NOF can participate in this competition.

NOF Hatton award

Every year, NOF invites young researchers to enter the Nordic Hatton Award Competition
The objective of the award is to encourage and reward outstanding young dental scientists. Candidates of this award present their study results in the regional (NOF, CED, PER) IADR meeting and an independent evaluation committee announces two NOF winners. Each winner receives a stipend and automatic admission and expenses for travel and accommodation to attend the international Hatton Award Competition to be held at the successive year’s IADR meeting.
NOF sends the announcement of Hatton Award Competition to its members and Nordic universities, by email.
Only members of NOF can participate in the NOF competition.

IRISH Division AWARDS/COMPETITIONS

Invitations are welcomed for eligible candidates to apply for EITHER the Irish Division Undergraduate Prize or the Irish Division Postgraduate Prize. Candidates applying for both awards will be disqualified.

Irish Division Undergraduate Prize

  • The applicant must be a present Irish Division-IADR member.
  • The applicant’s primary affiliation should be Irish (NI or RoI) OR one of the named principal supervisors should be based in Ireland (NI or RoI).
  • The applicant must submit original research that is unpublished. The research must not have been presented at any major scientific meeting prior to the meeting at which the competition is held.
  • The applicant must be the first author and presenter of the submitted research.
  • The applicant must submit their abstract before the abstract-submission deadline.
  • The applicant must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate BDS degree programme.
  • The applicant must have carried out their research as part of undergraduate/professional training (research undertaken as an undergraduate science student, as a dental student, or at a time of pursuing an intercalated science degree while in training as a dental student).

Irish Division Postgraduate Prize

  • The applicant must be a present Irish Division-IADR member.
  • The applicant’s primary affiliation should be Irish (NI or RoI) OR one of the named principal supervisors should be based in Ireland (NI or RoI).
  • The applicant must submit original research that is unpublished. The research must not have been presented at any major scientific meeting prior to the meeting at which the competition is held.
  • The applicant must be the first author and presenter of the submitted research.
  • The applicant must submit their abstract before the abstract-submission deadline.
  • The applicant must be enrolled in a post-dental, post-graduate, or PhD programme or have performed the research submitted to the postgraduate competition within three (3) years of earning their Masters or PhD.
  • The Irish Division Postgraduate Prize includes:
    • Clinical/Pre-clinical Research: Involving research on human subjects and/or epidemiologic studies.
    • Basic Science Research: Involving laboratory or animal research.
